Austin Housing Market Pushes a Positive Incline of Home Sales in September 2016

The numberS are in, and Austin still steadily makes gains in the month of September. Marking the beginning of the end of 2016 - a bench mark year in Austin Real Estate.

There is no denying that Austin, Texas is a city where jobs are happening, the economy is robust and home sales continue to follow the current trend of riding the upward slant from 2015.  Even despite the season dip Austin faces year to year in September, the month still rose above the numbers from the year prior across the board.

Just how great where the home sales for the month of September in Austin?  Existing home sales for the month totaled at 2,857.  This number is 1.5% higher than in September 2015 and for the first nine months of 2016, 25,428 homes were sold.  This is according to numbers provided by the Austin Board of Realtors and the Real Estate Center at Texas A&M.  

Recently reported by the National Association of Realtors, information for the U.S. indicates that homes sales are up 2.8% over the amount one year ago.  Statewide numbers and comparisons are also in a surplus when you compare 2016 year-to-date-sales over 2015.

With steady numbers on the rise in home sales, one can’t help but wonder what the average home in Austin is selling for.  In the month of September, the year-to-date median sales price of a home came in at $279,900, while the monthly median for September was $269,995, up 6.7% from one year ago.
